Critics, TheAbout the Story
Irish dramatist, novelist, and critic St. John Greer Ervine (1883-1971) was born in East Belfast and later moved to London in 1901. He worked as an insurance clerk, but eventually became involved with theater. Ervine became the manager of the Abbey Theater in 1915 and was known for severely criticizing the plays being produced.
